Edison Kipkurui grew up with his uncle after his mother was unable to care for him and his father was not around. He was put forward for the Trust’s support after performing very well at primary school and his Uncle was unable to raise the funds for his secondary education.

The Trust began sponsoring him in Jan 2013 at the prestigious Londiani Boys Secondary School, where Edison has since completed his secondary education. He worked very hard and thoroughly deserved the good marks he got to gain a government sponsored place at University.

In September 2017 started his degree in Business Administration at the Presbyterian University of East Africa. Sadly due to lack of the government funding the University has since closed and he was transferred to Mount Kenya university where he is getting excellent grades in his degree in Industrial Chemistry. He is due to finish his studies there in 2023, at which point he is hoping to start on internship. He also dreams of starting his own business. The Trust continues to pay for his accommodation and living expenses whist at University.

Will and Shirley went to visit him at his school in May 2016 and also had the pleasure of meeting his uncle, a squatter on the Kericho Tea Estate, who gave a long speech (in Swahili!) to say how grateful the family were for The Trust’s support. Will also met up with Edison in Nairobi in June 2019 which felt great for them both.
