Will Tudor-Evans

Cosmas was recommended to The Trust by Alice Sigei, his headmistress at Saramek Primary, after showing great potential at primary school and his mother (sick with HIV) could not afford to send him on to secondary school.

He did very well in his KPCE exams which got him a place at the excellent district school Londiani Boys at the beginning of 2014. His secondary education was generously paid for by a friend of the Trust, Steve Patton. Will and Shirley met him at Saramek when he was on half term in July 2014 and he and Alice Sigei proudly showed us a certificate for a national Maths competition he had entered and guess what – he came 2nd overall!
Towards the end of his time at secondary school he sadly appeared to lose motivation somewhat, despite The Trust’s best efforts to encourage him.

He completed his school without a good enough grade to go to University and has since been doing contractual work in Kericho to support his family. This includes some work as an assistant maths teacher back at Saramek Primary School. His family’s dependency on him was apparently a big reason for him being unable to properly commit to his secondary education.

Will met Cosmas again in 2019 where he expressed his desire to attend a teacher training college for 2 years so that he can then work as a fully qualified teacher. Since then, he has returned to college whilst working at a nearby supermarket to help fund his studies.
